Lou J. Tayon – 2020 Chairman

Louis Tayon is the Chesapeake Jubilee Chairman for 2020. He has been involved with the Jubilee since the beginning in 1983, serving in various capacities including Chairman in 2009 and 2012. Louis resides in Chesapeake with his wife Sharon and is a graduate of Oscar Smith High School. He retired from the Chesapeake Police Department as Deputy Chief of Police in 2010 after 42 years of service and was elected to serve a four-year term on the Chesapeake School Board in 2014. A veteran, he served four years in the Army Security Agency and 22 years as a Reserve Special Agent in the Coast Guard.

Louis plays an active role in the community through various organizations and serves on the Boards of the Rotary Club of Great Bridge, the Chesapeake Public Schools Educational Foundation, Chesapeake Sports Club and the Children’s Health Investment Program (CHIP). Louis stated that the City has been very good to him and his family and being involved is a way of paying back Chesapeake. He is excited about this year’s Jubilee and working with all the community volunteers who make the Jubilee the premier outdoor event in Chesapeake. Louis says there is something for every one at the Jubilee –games, entertainment, music, arts and crafts, food, carnival rides, and of course the fabulous fireworks show.
